It costs about £1000 a month to keep Hungate open. This money is spent on core running costs; exhibitions, utility bills and rent. Hungate has no paid staff and does not pay the artists who exhibit with us.
We receive no core funding and rely on donations and grants, large and small, to keep the centre open and continue our work. Trustees spend the greater part of their time making grant applications to cover Hungate's costs.
When we first opened we quickly discovered that it was not cost affective to charge admission, so access to Hungate is free - but we need every visitor who can to make a donation if we are to be able to carry on.
100 ANGELS FOR HUNGATE
Hungate Medieval Art is currently seeking 100 Angels in Norwich to give a donation of £100 in order to secure our 2013 season. We are reaching out to local companies and individuals to give a commitment of just £100 in order for us to put on a programme of 4 exhibitions and support numerous local outreach programmes in 2013. For each £100 donation we will be filling a square of our Angel, with a company logo or name, to create a unique piece of art which we will be exhibiting in the entrance to Hungate and on our website, as a testament to the support of the local community.
